Extreme Couponing Gave Me Nightmares!

I am not sure I could actually say I "enjoy" watching Extreme Couponing on TLC, but I have been trying to see each episode. It is almost like watching the couponing version of Animal Hoarding without the pet feces. Well I guess that is an exaggeration, but I have found that the people almost seem like they have shopping addictions. There is a certain rush you get when you start couponing and I feel like we all go through a honeymoon period where we are chasing deals. I think then you relax into the weekly idea of saving on grocery and other items for your home. I don't need fifteen packs of tampons or twenty deodorants and if I fall upon a good deal I try to pass along items to others. I liked the episode where the man from Pennsylvania donated items to a local shelter, great for him! Where I live you could never get 95 sports drinks free since our store limits 4 per order so that level of couponing is not an option. For that I am glad, because I stay home to be with my children not spend 30 hours a week couponing.

Last week I fell asleep soon after watching the show and had a nightmares about cutting stacks of coupons and sorting them. I woke up panicked and then realized it was just a dream. Just be careful watching the show, because there has been a lot of reports of the shoppers on the show using coupon fraud. For now I will continue to watch for entertainment purposes, how about you?

  1. They are accepting donations of personal items for the victims of the tornados- and many of the couponers are sending in the extras they got with the coupons. You can find out at this site.
