A Very Tacky Christmas

When I was a child, one of our favorite things to do was to take drive to see the neighborhood lights. My mom says that I would see the most tacky, bright, hodgepodge of lights and say, "Mommy isn't it so beautiful!" Back at our house, we strung up our white twinkle lights and greenery which was classic and tasteful. Every once in a while, my mom would give in and let us put up colored lights which tickled us pink. My brother and I won out in that little way to bring beauty to our Christmas.
Fast forward to present day and we are now taking light rides of our own. As we pass by a yard full of blow ups and flashy signs, my children's eyes light up and Cole cries out, "Mommy it is so beautiful!" I get it and even though I prefer white lights with classic greenery and would love cranberry ribbons on all my windows, we have colored lights and a flashy snowman blinking in our yard. Yesterday while breezing through Boscovs, I even stopped in front of the blow up Santa lawn ornament for a moment. So we are having a little more of a tacky than classy Christmas and loving every moment of it! I bet next year they'll get me to buy a blow up for the lawn.

  3. Well then we rate very high on the tacky-mometer!! We are getting ready for the blow-ups and lawn decorations- ALL COLORED LIGHTS! No house lights this year, as Kevin's back won't allow him up on the ladder. last years didn't come down till Brian removed them in April.
