Growums Review and Giveaway

I learned about Growums through another blog who had done a review of their product and I thought it was a great concept.  A few weeks ago while shopping at Lowes, Cole came across a Growums display and was immediately intrigued.  We checked out more about Growums on their website and contacted them so we could review their product on Crumbs in the Couch.  We were thrilled when only a few days later we received our Salad Garden.  This kit which retails for $9.99 contains seed packets for tomatoes, romaine lettuce, cucumbers and carrots.  The cute garden markers and 8 coco pellets are what you need to get started.  Once we opened up our kit, we registered the garden online where it told Cole simple steps of how to get started.

Here Cole registers his plant then listens to his instructions.

Here Cole puts the seeds into his risen coco pellets.

Once the seeds were all planted, Cole enjoyed playing on the Growums site where there are games and coloring activities.  Growums sends email to update on your plants' progress.  Ours had to be kept in a window a little less sunny since they needed to survive out of the reach of a certain toddler.  They are doing well and Cole enjoys watching their progress.  The coco pellets allow for a lot of water absorption and seem to prevent over watering by one excited preschooler.

When very happy cucumber reaching for the sun!
We have been very pleased with Growums.  The company has been wonderful with answering questions and providing information.  I love having something special for Cole and I to work on and the Growums site provides a way for us to check on the progress of our plants and figure what we need to do next.  Growing vegetables with children is a wonderful way to show them the fun an value of taking care of and appreciating a plant.

Growums has 6 kits:

  • Ratatouille
  • Salad Garden
  • Taco Garden
  • Herb Garden
  • Stir Fry Garden
  • Pizza Garden
You can purchase these kits through the Growums site or at a local retailer such as Lowes.  We will be getting another kit, the hard part is choosing which one.  My vote is the Herb Garden!
Growums also does fundraising which is a wonderful way to earn money for your school or organization while providing families with the opportunity to grow fresh and healthy foods.
One of my readers will be selected to receive their own kit courtesy of  Growums.

Disclaimer:  I was provided with this kit through Growums, but the ideas and opinions represented int his review are solely my own based on our experience with this product.
