Do You Remember the School Paddle?

It seems completely insane to me now, but it was not long ago that school's had paddles an could implement corporal punishment.  Sometimes it was just the principal that held it and was able to use this as a form of discipline. In many cases though, the teachers possessed their own paddles stored in their desks.  I remember them being wood with long handles.  When I was in middle school if you forgot your Gym clothes, you had two choices.  One was to carry a heavy medicine ball around the upper floor of the gym or accept a paddling from the male Gym teacher.  Does that not seem completely outrageous having a thirty something year old man paddle teenage girls?  It all happened not so long ago, but never to me thank you God!
