Oprah's Next Chapter is the kind of programming that has been missing from TV for a while now. I love looking into the lives of other cultures and this is not what reality TV has become in the past few years. Recently Oprah did a two part program where she entered into the Hasidic Jewish community of Brooklyn, New York. It was an amazing view of their culture, beliefs, and traditions. While I found many of their traditions to be very conservative compared to the life I lead, their core values are something that I too believe (though do not always practice). The children do not watch TV at all and so they are sheltered from most pop culture. Oprah was able to enter this community as a journalist and not a celebrity. The families are large and tightly knit with a God centered focused. I strongly encourage you to watch this, it is still available On Demand if you have Comcast. If you saw it, what did you take away?
